OPen Door Project

Work is progressing on our planned renovations to ensure the future of St. Peter’s Square as a community sanctuary in the heart of Lewes. The capital campaign continues in order to secure all funds required to complete this project. Your help is still very much needed.

Many local non-profit groups make use of our facilities and many of the programs sponsored by St. Peter’s contribute to the well-being of people in the wider community. That puts us in a position to seek financial support from governmental, corporate, and philanthropic entities. A key to this is demonstrating that there is widespread support for the project within the congregation itself – not just in terms of dollars but in the proportion of individuals/households that contribute. A gift of any size is meaningful in this regard and will be magnified by funding received from these outside groups.

You can make a donation online by clicking here. Or you can send us a check - please mark it for the Open Door Project in the memo line of the check. You can mail it to PO Box 464, Lewes, DE 19958

  • Phase I focused on expanding the Sanctuary with new bathrooms, a larger Chancel area to better accommodate the choir and clergy, and additional lower-level space for a conference room and chapel. During construction, we discovered the need to replace a structural beam, something we would not have known without deciding to update the space, which has ensured the building’s safety and stability. To see the stages of construction, please view the album below. Thank you to all who made the completion of this phase possible.

  • I’m excited to share that Phase II construction on the Hart House (former rectory) is progressing . Once completed, this renovated space will provide Christian formation classrooms, staff offices, and much-needed relief from the space challenges we’ve faced in recent years. If you haven’t yet supported the Open Door campaign—or would like to explore a naming opportunity—please refer to the enclosed Book Open  Brochure

  • Phase III focuses on the Parish Hall. There is currently no start date for this phase.
