fAMILY & Volunteers

A few years back, The Vestry of St. Peter's really made it a priority to focus on Youth and Children's Christian Formation. Jessica Potter, the director of family ministries and communication, plays a key role in developing and coordinating comprehensive education and spiritual programming for the parish. We want to create a community where people of all ages can come together – from toddlers to adults – and where the youth feel like a valued part of our church services. Our goal is to bring different parts of our congregation together and create a strong sense of community throughout St. Peter's Square.

At St. Peter's, we have many opportunities for children, youth, and their families to get involved, such as serving as Acolytes, Lay Readers, Ushers, or volunteering as Godly Play Story Tellers and Greeters. If your child is interested in any of these activities, please feel free to email or call Jessica Potter for more information.

Family Service

10:30 am

Our Family Service meets in the Parish Hall and is a great introductory service to newcomers and young families. Every week we share in communion, sing easy songs, and learn about the Gospel. Children are encouraged to participate in the service including the breaking of the bread, handing out bulletins, lighting the candles, and taking up the bread and wine. This service truly emphasizes that our children are the future of the church.

wELcOME BACK!

VOLUNTEERS & FAMILIES

Godly Play and Saint Peter’s Youth return on September 24th, 2023. I am excited to share some fun opportunities for our upcoming year.

The Godly Play start time remains 9:15 however, I have added an additional 15 minutes to end at 10:15. This return to a longer class time will give the children more response time for the lesson. The children will be escorted to the Sanctuary during the peace for anyone attending the 10 am service.  The Iona Service has been renamed the Family Service and will begin at 10:30am. This should bring the conclusion of each of the services closer together.

Saint Peter’s Youth (SPY) begins at 9:15 in the lower level of the Parish Hall.

SPY:

10 min Game/Icebreaker

20 min Scripture and Conversation

20 min Response/ Activity/ Game

10 min Closing
