aBOUT OUR SERVICE

To help enrich your worship experience, we offer the following suggestion for your guidance.

  • St. Peter's is an inclusive welcoming parish where we seek to serve the Christ in everyone, as we strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.

  • In an effort to conserve and promote eco-friendly habits, you can download the Sunday Bulletin on our website. To do so, click here to download a PDF copy. You may also bring your device to church; log onto “StPetersChurch-guest," (password “Episcopal”) and download the PDF before the service.

  • Most of the liturgy can be followed in your service booklet. However, if the service is new to you, do not hesitate to ask anyone for assistance!

  • At several points in the service, you will notice people kneeling, others standing, or seated. We are given this choice and you should feel free to do whichever is the most appropriate for you. All are correct.

  •  † All God’s people are welcome to receive Communion in the Episcopal Church, including children. The ushers will help direct you to the Communion rail. If physical limitations make it difficult for you to come to the rail, please let an usher know and we will be happy to bring Communion to you in your pew.

† To receive the wafer, cross your hands, palm up, and the wafer will be placed in your hand. To receive the chalice, lightly steady the cup with your hand and help direct it to your lips. If you do not wish to receive the chalice, simply cross your arms over your chest. If you need a gluten-free wafer, please speak to one of the clergy before service.

During Covid we are intincting only.

  • Laying on of Hands and Anointing for Healing is offered during the Communion portion of most Sunday services. If you wish to receive unction or to share a special prayer request during administration of Communion, please meet a member of the clergy in the Chapel to the right of the Altar.

  • The presence, sounds and activities of children are welcome in our service! In the back of the church are activity packets for children to use in the pews. They are located on the bottom shelf of the Mende George Lending Library. The ushers will direct you. All are welcome!

  • Godly Play is our Sunday School for age 3 to 11 on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15 on the lower level of the Parish Hall. Please direct questions to Jessica Potter at 645-8479 or by email. LEARN MORE

  • St. Peter's Youth is our Sunday School for ages 12 to 19 on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:15 on the lower level of the Parish Hall. Please direct questions to Jessica Potter at 645-8479 or by emailLEARN MORE

  • Restrooms are available in the Narthex and the Parish Hall. An usher can give you directions.

  • St. Peter's strives to be accessible for all. We offer assistance with hearing devices as well handicap accessible seating.  If you are interested in either of these options or have a related request please let an usher or member of the clergy know.

  • Be sure to join us for Coffee Hour! Just follow the brick path [and the people] to our Parish Hall. You'll be glad you did--you will feel at ease and find our parishioners to be friendly and happy to meet you.
