The Rev. J. Carlyle Gill recently retired after thirty years of ordained ministry. She is among the first women to be ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church. Carlyle served as Assistant Chaplain to the College at the University of the South, Associate Rector at St. Augustine-by-the-Sea in Santa Monica, California, Rector of St. Stephen and the Incarnation, Washington, D.C., and Senior Associate and Interim Rector at St. Alban’s, Washington, D.C. Carlyle received her Masters of Divinity from The Virginia Theological Seminary, her Master's in Philosophy of Religion from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Arts from Queens University. She is currently a retreat leader and spiritual director.
