CHILDREN AND YOUTH
St. Peter's Nursery offers a safe, welcoming space for children from infants through age 5 during select Sunday morning services. Located on the second floor of Hart House, our Safe Church-certified caregivers provide loving care, play, and activities while parents participate in worship.

What is Godly Play?
Godly Play is an interactive program designed to nurture children's spiritual growth through storytelling, prayer, and exploration. Open to children ages 3 to 18, this hands-on approach to Christian formation invites them to wonder about God.
Godly Play fosters curiosity and creativity, encouraging children to ask questions and engage with the lessons in a personal way.
We gather on Sundays from 9:30–10:15 a.m. in Har to enter into Godly Play together. After our time of wondering, children may rejoin their families in the Sanctuary or remain for extra response time. This extended space allows them to continue their work, move around, and let their bodies settle so that they are ready to join the congregation at the Peace. At that time, children are invited to take an active part in worship by gathering around the altar with our priest to watch and wonder at Communion up close.
Our goal is to inspire wonder and curiosity about God, the Bible, and the Church, helping children deepen their faith through exploration and discovery.
Little Shepherds

Ages 3-6 meet in the Hart House to share Bible stories and explore what it means to be a Christian today.
Disciples

Ages 7-11 meet in the Hart House to share Bible stories, question, wonder, and explore Christianity today. In this class we also introduce the different parts of the Episcopal service and why we do them.
GRADES 5 -12
Join us Sundays at 9:30 a.m. for thought-provoking discussions on faith, fun games, and community service opportunities. During these gatherings, we explore sacred texts, the Book of Common Prayer, and the significance of serving the community. Our aim is not only personal growth, but also fostering a deep sense of community that extends beyond St. Peter's Square. Through our actions, we strive to show the world the love of Christ.
During the pandemic St. Peter's got creative and found a way to share our Sunday morning stories. What we found is that people from all over like to join in online worship. As we return to in person Godly Play we strive to make our Sunday morning worship available for all people. Join us as we quiet our minds and open our hearts to hear what God has to say to us today.
July 13-17, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.,

Join us for Wondering with God, a week of stories, creativity, and discovery as we explore God's love together. Through engaging Bible stories told in the Godly Play tradition, children will be invited to listen, wonder, and reflect on where they find themselves in God's story.
Each day will include hands-on crafts, exciting games, music, snacks, and opportunities to build friendships in a welcoming and nurturing environment. Rather than rushing to find all the answers, we'll practice the art of wondering—wondering about God, about ourselves, and about the world around us.
Children of all backgrounds are welcome as we gather to hear stories, create, play, and grow in faith together.
The Hart House
The Hart House at St. Peter’s Church was updated and completed construction in 2025 as the newest renovated building on St. Peter’s campus in historic Lewes. Located at the corner of Third and Mulberry Streets, the building once served as the parish rectory and has now been transformed into an important ministry and administrative space for the church. The first floor houses church administrative offices, while the second floor is home to Sunday School classrooms and children’s ministry spaces.
The Acolyte Ministry at St. Peter's Episcopal Church is open to youth ages 9 and up. Acolytes serve an important role in worship by assisting the clergy and other ministers during services. Through serving, young people learn more about the liturgy, grow in their faith, and become active participants in the life of the church.
This ministry offers an opportunity for youth to build friendships, develop leadership skills, and deepen their relationship with God while serving the St. Peter's community.

SPY is an LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive group that meets weekly at 9:30am to learn about and discuss God. We promote visible representation of LGBTQ+ individuals in our events and leadership roles, creating safe spaces for connection and expression. By actively engaging LGBTQ+ youth in community activities and encouraging allies to advocate for their rights, we strive to foster a nurturing environment where they can thrive and be their authentic selves.

New Families,
You’re invited to a morning of fun, laughter, and connection for families in our church community.
If you are a young family new to St. Peter’s within the last two years, we would love for you to join us. If you have been part of
St. Peter’s for a while, this is a wonderful opportunity to welcome new families, make connections, and let all the kiddos have fun together.
Join us at Camp Arrowhead for a relaxed and welcoming time with games, activities, and space to get to know one another.
We’ll gather from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on May 9th for outdoor fun, group games, and plenty of opportunities to connect. Lunch is included!
Please email Jessica to RSVP so we know how much food to prepare.
We look forward to welcoming you and spending the morning together!
