Thursday, July 3, 2025 we will offer "Walking the Labyrinth: A Path to Peace, Hope, and Wisdom." Our facilitators will be:
The Rev. Kathryn Andonian is one of the many retired clergy who make their spiritual home at St. Peter’s. Prior to moving to the
Delaware Beaches in mid-2023, Kathy served as rector of a
growing, multi-generational, and innovative parish in Pennsylvania for nearly 20 years. Prior to her second vocation as an Episcopal priest, Kathy enjoyed a first career in public policy in the areas of gerontology and health care. Kathy is an avid quilter. She and her husband, Marc, are enjoying this new season of life and this welcoming church community.
Rebecca Fitton, a newcomer to St. Peter’s, is an advanced trained labyrinth facilitator. Her interest in labyrinths began in 2004. She has attended labyrinth conferences in the United States and at Chartres Cathedral in France. Her facilitator training workshops were in 2006 and 2025. Walking the sacred path of a labyrinth is an inherent part of Rebecca’s spiritual life.

Monks without Temples: the future of the church with the Rev. Jeffrey Ross, Rector, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Lewes, DE
When Thomas Cranmer penned the first Book of Common Prayer in 1549, he fused together the monastic breviary with the worship services of the parish church to create one book to guide the Anglican Church and shape the formation of its members. In her book, The Great Emergence, Phyllis Tickle postulated that every 500 years or so the church engages in a major reappraisal of itself, not unlike a garage sale, in which we bring everything out of the house and decide what to put back in for the next 500 years or so. We are now approaching the 500th anniversary of the first Book of Common Prayer and are in the midst of another one of those reformation moments. We have seen denominational identity become less important for many Christians and a renewed interest in monastic practices and communities. This presentation will compare and contrast the gifts of both the congregational and monastic traditions of the last 500 years in search of a coherent understanding of where we are going as the Church and the potential impact for congregations.

Centering Prayer
Deepening Your Spiritual Journey: Centering Prayer
Most of us want to deepen our experience of the presence of God. Centering Prayer, a form of Christian meditation, is a way to do just that. It is a simple prayer practice that requires no prior experience or knowledge – just a willingness to go deeper in our relationship with God.
We will begin a new Centering Prayer Group on January 15th at 10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. You are invited! The Centering Prayer practice will be taught. We will also watch Father Thomas Keating’s video series titled, “The Spiritual Journey.” For more information, contact Mother Carlyle Gill.
