parish life at st. peter's

St. Peter's is a very active church and the success of our parish events are the result of the efforts and participation of many wonderful volunteers.

Volunteers are always welcome at all parish events. It is a great way to meet other members of your faith community and a satisfying way to be involved, so please participate in any way you can. See below the many ways our members volunteer.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us.

  • Music Events

Receptions are held after choir Evensong and music events with special guests. Our music events are  well attended by our congregation and the surrounding community.
Click for more details of music events.
  • lenten series

Each Wednesday during the Lenten season, we meet for a soup supper and fellowship. There is a theme for discussion which is held after the meal, attended by about 25 people.

  • coffee hour

During summer, the congregation and visitors are invited to join in fellowship on the patio of Parish Hall between services on Sunday. Goodies and coffee are provided by parishioners. To sign up for a Sunday, please click here.

  • picnic

In September, our annual Parish Picnic is held at Camp Arrowhead with Holy Eucharist at 10:30.  After the service, everyone enjoys good food, fun activities and socializing.

  • foyer groups

Foyer Groups is the name of our dinner groups which consist of 8 to 12 people. We typically have about 75 participants. It is a great way to get to know your church family.

  • summer spirituality series

St. Peter's hosts the Summer Spirituality Series from Memorial Day to Labor Day which has proved to be a huge success, with standing room only on several occasions. Inspirational speakers offer a diversified variety of topics. The series is attended by many from the surrounding community who enjoy free ice cream and fellowship after each presentation.

  • Blessings

The congregation looks forward to receiving blessings for their birthdays and wedding anniversaries.

  • altar flowers

Altar flowers are provided weekly by our parishioners through a local florist. The altar flower dedication request form is printed in the December newsletter. You may call the office or email if you would like to know if a particular date is available. We recommend submitting your dedication as early as possible as dates can fill quickly. A maximum of two families can sponsor flowers for any Sunday except Easter and Christmas, when we invite unlimited dedications. Flowers are not used on the altar during Lent and we use greenery only during Advent so those weeks are not available. Names of givers and of those honored, remembered or celebrated are printed in the weekly service bulletins.

We would like to thank Jim and the staff of Windsor's Florist for the beautiful arrangements delivered every week.
